These docs follow the current Windows and macOS apps. They cover install, permissions, shortcuts, capture modes, delay, whiteboard, desktop rulers, annotation, translation, scrolling capture, GIFs, pin groups, local history, Smart Paste, plus the CLI and snipkap:// URL Scheme.

Snipkap is a native screenshot tool for Windows and macOS. It combines precise selection, scrolling long images, short GIFs, full annotation, and desktop pins for images, text, colors, files, and Markdown into one workflow. Core features are currently free for individuals and businesses. There are no in-app ads, and captured content stays on the device.

Read Quick start first. Two shortcuts are enough for your first capture and pin.

Use cases

  • Designers: pin assets, drafts, and mockups anywhere on screen so you do not keep switching apps.
  • Developers: capture code, errors, or docs, then annotate the logic.
  • Project managers: keep progress, requirements, or flowcharts on the desktop for quick reference.
  • Teachers: pin textbook or slide captures while explaining, and run on-device OCR when needed.
  • Marketing: capture pages, ads, or competitor details, annotate them, and share the plan.

Use at work

Snipkap does not restrict how you use it. Core features can be used for free inside a company. If later features create ongoing service cost, only those new features may be charged.
