Scrolling capture and GIF
Auto or manual long captures, or a 3 to 10 second action demo.
Save long continuous content
- Press Alt + L and select the scrollable area. Vertical capture may include a sticky header/footer; horizontal capture may include sticky side columns. Each sticky region is kept once in the result.
- The pre-start panel shows mode, direction, and action. Mode defaults to
A(auto scroll). Click it forM(manual). Direction can be vertical or horizontal before you start. - Auto: after Play, Snipkap activates the window under the selection, moves the cursor to the center, and scrolls for you. Do not move the window, change zoom, or scroll extra.
- Manual: Play becomes a checkmark and the cursor is not forced to the center. Put the pointer inside the selection and scroll with the wheel or trackpad. Reverse and the other axis are blocked.
- After capture starts,
ESC to finishappears outside the lower-left of the frame. Auto ends at the content end. Manual ends on the checkmark. Both accept Esc and keep what was already stitched. - The result becomes a desktop edit viewport. Wheel to browse, or drag the edge scrollbar. Toolbar copy, save, or pin composites the full long image, not just the current viewport.
The long-edge limit is 32768px and the pixel buffer limit is 256MiB. If either is exceeded, already captured content is kept. Vertical stitching also strips overlay scrollbars that do not move with the content, so the right edge does not collect leftover thumbs.
Record a short action
- Press Alt + G and select the recording area. You can round all corners or one corner with the wheel, like a normal rectangle.
- Choose 3, 5, or 10 seconds, and 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 fps.
- Click start and complete the action inside the selection.
- After recording you can still annotate and pick a watermark. Copy or save as
.gifcomposites corners, annotations, and watermark per frame. Outside the corners uses single-level GIF transparency.
Large selections automatically lower the actual frame rate based on memory budget. The GIF complete state does not create a still pin, so the pin button is disabled.
Improve scrolling-capture success
Let the page finish loading. Close sticky overlays and animation when you can. Do not scroll extra in auto mode. In manual mode, only move in the chosen direction. For dynamic pages, press Esc and keep what you already captured.
