Annotate and export
18 toolbar actions after a selection, including OCR, translation, pin, save, and copy.
After a selection, the toolbar has 18 actions. In Settings → Personalization → Annotation toolbar you can choose which items to show. Select none still keeps Dismiss and Copy. Hover about half a second for the tool name. After a tool is selected, the bottom HUD switches to that tool’s usage.
Common tools
- Badge, arrow, line, frame: click the button for a style HUD. Frames include solid/dashed rectangle and circle, plus rectangle and circle spotlights. Press X to cycle styles for the current tool.
- Mosaic: smear pixel effect by default. Press X for rectangle mode. Pattern brushes are also available. The old “region blur” is mosaic rectangle mode.
- Eraser: normal brush erase, or smart erase (smear/rectangle) that fills from nearby pixels.
- Text and stickers: text supports local fonts, bold, and italic. Stickers imported in Settings are placed on a 256×256 transparent canvas.
- Watermark: Free edition always composites two official combination watermarks. Pro uses personal presets. Wheel on the button temporarily scales 100%–400%. X cycles presets.
- OCR / translate: after recognizing the full selection, drag inside it to copy text. Translate runs on-device OCR first. Image translation fallback is Pro only.
Tintable tools use Alt + wheel on Windows or Option + wheel on macOS for opacity (30%–100%). With a finished annotation selected, Backspace / Delete removes it.
Export
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Copy | Writes the clipboard and finishes. Double-click an idle selection does the same |
| Save | Writes a file and does not close capture or the pin. The current content stays selected |
| Pin | Composites the selection and annotations, creates a desktop pin, and finishes. Middle-click an idle selection does the same |
| Dismiss | Abandons the capture, same as Esc in the idle state |
Still captures default to PNG with an alpha channel. The suggested file name is Snipkap_Screenshot_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS_001.png, with the trailing number incrementing from 001 each calendar day. Copy, save, and pin all use the same frozen frame shown in the selection preview.
