Pin shortcut and Smart Paste
Global pin read order, plus automatic save from Explorer / Finder Smart Paste.
Global pin shortcut
Choose Pin from the tray, or press Ctrl + Shift + V. Snipkap reads the current selection and clipboard in a fixed order and creates one content type per press. If the current choice fails or takes more than 1.2 seconds, it falls back to the clipboard.
- At most 256 files are accepted in one action. If there are 16 or fewer, image files that can be decoded safely become separate image pins.
- More than 16 items skips file contents and merges everything into one file list.
- Text is limited to 4000 Unicode characters. Over-limit or unsupported content shows a clear message.
Smart Paste auto-save
This option is off by default. Turn it on in Settings → General when you need it. After that, when the safety conditions are clearly met, the system paste shortcut can save an in-memory clipboard image into the current folder.
- Windows: press Ctrl + V in Explorer on the desktop or a normal writable folder.
- macOS: press Command + V in Finder on the desktop or a normal local writable folder.
- File names use
Snipkap_Screenshot_YYYYMMDDHHMMSS_001.png. The trailing number increments from001each calendar day.
Only when conditions are met
The target must be a clearly identified normal writable directory, focus must be in the file view, and the clipboard must contain an in-memory image without file-copy semantics.
Keep native paste when unsure
Search boxes, address bars, rename fields, virtual folders, unwritable folders, and non-file-manager apps are left to the system paste.
File copies come first
If the clipboard contains file copy, cut, or drag-drop formats, Explorer or Finder native file paste always proceeds.
