Quick start
Download Snipkap and take the first screenshot with a global shortcut.
Snipkap does not keep a main window open. After it launches, it stays in the Windows tray or macOS menu bar. Left-click the tray icon to start rectangle capture. Right-click opens the full menu.
Download the build for your system
Windows can use the installer or the portable ZIP. macOS uses a DMG. Open the download area and pick the current system.
Confirm the background icon
After launch, look for the Snipkap icon in the tray or menu bar. Launching again only wakes the instance that is already running.
Take the first screenshot
Press Ctrl + Shift + A, drag a region, then copy, save, or annotate. A successful save does not close the capture UI.
No main window?
That is expected. Snipkap is a tray app. It does not show a persistent main window, and it does not occupy an extra desktop window.
